Roshanak Ameli-Tehrani is Co-Founder and President of Berim.org, an organization helping to unlock the potential of Iranian social entrepreneurs in Iran. She is also a founder and managing partner of The Katana Group, a real estate development and holding company operating in the Washington DC and Detroit metropolitan areas.

Prior to launching Berim.org, Ms. Ameli-Tehrani has extensive experience consulting with non-profit organizations working in the fields of poverty alleviation and environmental preservation. Her clients have included UNICEF, Helen Keller International and as well as multiple community-based groups in India, Nepal and Iran. Prior to her work in the nonprofit sector, Ms. Ameli-Tehrani was with Price Waterhouse as a CPA, launched and operated a chain of coffee-shops in the Midwest and has been an executive producer on several award winning documentaries including War Child, which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and won the audience award at the Tribeca film festival.

Ms. Ameli-Tehrani received a Masters of Public Administration from the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government, where she was both a Powell and a Littauer Fellow. She received a bachelor’s degree summa cum laude from the University of Maryland in Business Administration. She is interested in the use of arts and cultural exchanges as tools for social change.
