Ryan P. Cumming

Educator and writer

Ryan P. Cumming, Ph.D., is a writer and educator in the academy and the Lutheran church. His area of work is social ethics, with particular focus on criminal justice, economics, and war. He holds MA and Ph.D. degrees in Theology from Loyola University Chicago with a specialization in Christian Ethics and has taught a variety of courses in ethics, theology, and religious studies at universities in Illinois and Michigan. He has presented his research at US and international conferences, and his writing has appeared in both scholarly and ecclesiastical publications. He is also the author of The African American Challenge to Just War Theory: A Christian Approach (Palgrave Macmillan, 2013.)
