Prime minister of Albania
Sali Berisha is the prime minister of Albania.
Before becoming prime minister Berisha was elected president in 1992 and re-elected in 1997.
Berisha was involved in medicine, specifically cardiology, before he got involved in public policy. He conducted a research program on hemodynamics and was an elected member of the European Committee for Research on Medical Sciences. Berisha taught at the University of Tirana and published some university textbooks and articles on cardiology.
Berisha was appointed prime minister of Albania in 2005 and then was re-elected in 2009.
He graduated from the University of Tirana, Faculty of Medicine in 1967.
