Sara Catania

Patch.com Regional Editor, Los Angeles and Instructor, USC Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism

Sara Catania is a Los Angeles regional editor for Patch.com and a contributing writer for the op-ed pages of the Los Angeles Times. She also teaches journalism at the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California. She is at work on a reported memoir/urban history about growing up in the midst of urban renewal on the South Side of Chicago, for which she received a research grant from the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts.

Catania is the recipient of a John S. Knight Journalism Fellowship at Stanford and a Katrina Media Fellowship with the Open Society Institute. She has been a reporter at the Los Angeles Times, the LA Daily News and the LA Weekly. Her work has appeared in numerous publications including California, Legal Affairs, Salon, LA Observed and the Los Angeles Times Magazine.
