Sean McCloud is an Associate Professor of Religious Studies and an American Studies and Communication Studies Faculty Affiliate at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He teaches, publishes and researches in the field of American religions and is the author of "Making the American Religious Fringe: Exotics, Subversives, and Journalists, 1955-93" (2004), "Divine Hierarchies: Class in American Religion and Religious Studies" (2007) and co-editor of "Religion and Class in America: Culture, History, and Politics" (2009). His current book project is on a branch of evangelicals that practice spiritual warfare against demons that they believe reside in human bodies, material objects and certain geographic locations. It is tentatively titled "American Possessions: Consuming Religions and Fighting Demons in the Contemporary United States."
