Launched in 2002, alice + olivia by Stacey Bendet is a sophisticated, yet eclectic brand with a playful sensibility, which epitomizes the personality and quirky style of its founder, Stacey Bendet.

It all started with Stacey’s search for the perfect pair of pants. While designing web sites for other fashion designers, she finally decided to stop searching and came up with the idea to make her own. Nicknamed Staceypants by her friends, she was often found rollerblading through the city in that first pair of bold striped bell bottoms that the collection instantly became famous for. Shortly after the launch of the line at Barneys New York, Andrew Rosen, the founder of Theory, recognized the potential of Stacey and her pants and became a partner in the company.

The line gradually grew to become a full lifestyle collection offering everything from party dresses and coats to embellished t-shirts and sweaters, to the pants with the perfect fit that started it all. In the spring of 2008 a kids line was introduced, and with the birth of Stacey’s daughter Eloise last year, the line has grown to include t-shirts, sweaters, dresses and coats for little girls. Stacey is also expanding into accessories with jewelry and scarves and will be launching the alice + olivia shoe collection in 2011.

Stacey incorporates her love of culture, music, art and vintage fashion into each collection. She is inspired by all the women around her, from her mother to her daughter to her friends, and gives something fresh and edgy to the alice + olivia girl every season. Whether she wants to look sexy or sweet, is going to the office or dressing for an evening out, Stacey instinctively knows what the a + o girl wants.

Celebrity fans of the brand include Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Lopez, Blake Lively, Taylor Swift, Sarah Jessica Parker and Dakota Fanning.

The alice + olivia base collection, which launched for the spring 2010 season, offers a sexy and cool approach to chic day dressing. Embracing the lifestyle of the alice + olivia girl who loves our party dresses and embellished tops, the base collection gives her everything she needs to dress for a casual day at work or running around on the weekend. T-shirts, sweaters, tanks, leggings, pants and blazers are done in a variety of sumptuous fabrics and are the perfect layering pieces. The classic black and white a + o palette is complemented with muted shades of peach, pale pink, safari green, and accented with metallics. The alice + olivia base collection encompasses everything a girl needs to build her wardrobe and is the epitome of casual glamour.

Stacey’s jewelry collaboration with Erickson Beamon debuted for the spring 2010 season and unique collaborations on exclusive collections with both MAC Cosmetics and Keds will launch in the summer of 2010.

Stacey designs the interior of each alice + olivia boutique to reflect the unique personality of the brand. Each store is designed in the signature alice + olivia palette of black and white with pops of bold color, and exemplifies the sophisticated, yet youthful vibe inherent to the brand.

The boutiques offer alice + olivia signature pieces, as well as a few of Stacey’s favorite things; including Dylan’s Candy Bar candy, Erickson Beamon jewelry, The Lake & Stars lingerie, and candles by Malin + Goetz and DL & Co.

Born and raised in New York City, Stacey lives with her husband Eric and their daughter Eloise in Tribeca.

The collection is available at alice + olivia’s five free-standing boutiques located in New York, Greenwich, Southampton, Los Angeles and Malibu, aliceandolivia.com, and at over 500 select department and specialty stores worldwide.
