Stacy Morrison

Author, writer, former magazine editor

Stacy Morrison is an editor with 20 years’ experience in magazine publishing
and 12 years’ experience in digital/online. She was editor-in-chief of
REDBOOK from 2004 to 2010, and under her direction the magazine found
new purpose and vibrancy as modern guide to a young woman’s life. This
repositioning of REDBOOK was awarded the FOLIO: “General Excellence”
award in 2005, a Clarion Award in 2007 for General Excellence, and a
National Magazine Award nomination in 2007 for Personal Service and
brought the magazine to its highest revenue levels in its 102-year-old history.

Morrison also rebuilt the Redbookmag.com property three times, creating
syndication and content partnerships to help raise the site’s visibility, and
launched Redbook’s mobile/smartphone website, delivering the most useful
service and connection in each channel.

Before taking the helm at REDBOOK, Morrison was executive editor at Marie
Claire, where she oversaw all editorial and spearheaded the title’s award-
winning advocacy projects. She was also previously the founding editor in
chief of the design magazine/dot.comONE/onemedia.com (which earned 3
Ozzie Awards for design in its short lifespan), and editor in chief of Modern
Bride, which she repositioned in its 50th year, bringing it to its highest
circulation and revenue levels in its history. She expanded ModernBride.com to capture women as they were planning their weddings (and shopping for dresses) online. Morrison was also part of the founding teams of Time Out New York, Condé Nast Sports for Women and Mirabella.

Morrison is the author of Falling Apart In One Piece, an optimist’s memoir of
divorce, which was published by Simon & Schuster in March 2010 (the
paperback will be published March 2011 and the book has been optioned for
TV). A regular personal blogger (and Facebook addict), Morrison has also
contributed writings to the anthologies Sleep Is For The Weak and Kirtsy Takes a Bow. She is at work on a new website launch, fillingintheblanks.com, a community and content site for people facing change in their life.

Morrison graduated cum laude from Washington & Lee University where
she created her own print media major and wrote two theses on magazine
publishing. She lives in Brooklyn with her seven-year-old son, Zack.
