Stella Salvo

Plant breeder serving Asia & Africa, Monsanto

Born in the Philippines and raised in the midwestern US, she found a passion for plant science and being part of the solution towards food security and sustainable agriculture. After earning a degree in International Agronomy at Purdue University, and instead of joining the Peace Corps as planned, she earned a Masters at Colorado State University and Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin in plant breeding and genetics. Formerly a technical volunteer for USAID Feed the Future in Mali and Ethiopia, she works now at Monsanto, leading precision breeding for the Asia-Africa region, bringing improved seed technologies to smallholder farmers.
