Steve Proffitt was senior producer at the former NPR newsmagazine, Day to Day. A native of Louisiana, he began working for NPR in Washington, DC during the Reagan administration, before abandoning the Capitol for Southern California. He has been a producer for CBS News, and a contributing editor to the Los Angeles Times Sunday Opinion. After spending almost 10 years working in ad agencies, and for the technology consultancy, Sapient, he returned to NPR in 2003 to help design and pilot Day to Day.
