Steve Davis grew up on a Western Illinois family farm in Smithshire, population 100. He worked on and managed the family farm until 1992. Steve developed a custom application using Microsoft’s Excel VBA, and has been primarily been involved with IT pursuits since leaving the farm; he has worked for Farmers State Bank of Elmwood, and owned Elmnet, a local ISP. After selling Elmnet in 2010, Steve has concentrated on church and community volunteerism. He is currently assessor for Elmwood and Timber townships in Peoria County. Steve married Nancy Horney (yes, real name) in 1983; they celebrated their 30th anniversary this past April. They have two sons. Erik is an English teacher at West Central High School in Biggsville, Ill. Alex is a law student at Saint Louis University, St Louis, Mo. Nancy is a Regional Vice President for Mosaic, a social service agency based in Omaha, Nebraska. Steve spends much of his free time editing the web sites elmwoodil.org and forgottonia.org in an effort to promote the Elmwood region.
