Author, "Paris Was the Place" and "The Foremost Good Fortune"

Susan Conley is the author of The Foremost Good Fortune (Knopf, 2011), a memoir that chronicles the years Susan and her husband and two young boys lived in Beijing, China, and contended with Susan’s cancer diagnosis. The book was an O. Oprah Magazine Top Ten Pick, a Slate “Book of the Week” and was excerpted in The New York Times Magazine and The Daily Beast. Susan has been the recipient of two MacDowell Colony residencies, a Breadloaf Writer’s Fellowship and a Massachusetts Arts Council Grant. She has a novel forthcoming from Knopf in the spring of 2013. She lives in Portland, Maine with her husband and boys.
