Tamar Lowell is the driving force behind Access Trips, a leading culinary tour operator specializing in exploring culture through cuisine. As CEO of Access Trips, Lowell expertly designs each itinerary to include the perfect balance of cultural discovery, cooking and exquisite dining. Access Trips tours operate in small groups, usually no bigger than 12 guests, giving guests the flexibility to enjoy serendipitous experiences and cherished connections with the local people.
An avid and knowledgeable traveler, Lowell has over 20 years of experience working in the travel industry at companies including American Airlines, Lonely Planet, and Travelocity. She joined Access Trips in 2007, as Vice President of Sales and Marketing, before taking over leadership of the company in 2010. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from the University of Maryland and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley. She has used her experience visiting nearly 60 countries to invigorate the Access Trips portfolio with exciting new tours and one-of-a-kind experiences.
With Lowell’s guiding hand, Access Trips hosts culinary tours in Cuba, Vietnam, Thailand, Morocco, Peru and the United States. Access Trips tours have been recognized as “Best Trips of the Year” by National Geographic five times and have been recommended by Fodor’s. Access Trips has been featured in the New York Times, National Geographic Traveler, Travel +Leisure, and NPR.
Lowell lives in the Seattle area with her husband and two children. She enjoys cooking, hiking and photography both at home and abroad. She is a member of the American Himalayan Foundation, a donor to CARE, the American Red Cross and Heifer Foundation and a volunteer at several local schools.
