Tara de Nicolas

Director, Amazon

More than 13+ years of experience in crowdfunding, communications, marketing, events and fundraising, I am now the Director of Author Marketing at Amazon Publishing.

In 2006 I founded one of the most visible donation-based crowdfunding platforms — Fashion for Paws. From 2006 - 2013 I evolved Fashion for Paws from an “Outside-the-donation-box” grassroots event in Washington, DC into a dynamic crowdfunding platform raising $4M and securing an exceptional amount of national/international media attention.

I hold a B.A. in anthropology and a Master’s degree in business leadership from the Georgetown University McDonough School of Business.

I've been published in the Chronicle of the Horse Magazine, Washington Life Magazine and in the Huffington Post. In October of 2010 I was chosen as the featured “Working Woman” in an ABC TV News segment and in 2012 BizBash Magazine featured me on their cover naming me one of the “Most Innovative People in Events & Fundraising."

In 2012, as part of the Georgetown University McDonough School of Business program I traveled to Cape Town, South Africa to teach entrepreneurship at the Raymond Ackerman Academy.

In 2013, Georgetown University McDonough School of Business awarded me the “Entrepreneur of the Year,” award.
