Tom Conway

Vice President for Administration, United Steelworkers

Tom Conway, vice president for administration of the United Steelworkers since March 2005, has spent much of his USW career focusing on the steel industry in the U.S. and has been involved in most of the major collective bargaining efforts within that industry. Conway played an instrumental role in the union’s efforts to achieve steel tariffs in 2002. The tariffs rescued many domestic producers from bankruptcy and liquidation. He has also worked on the consolidation and restructuring of the U.S. domestic steel industry, and serves as chairman of the USW bargaining committees at U.S. Steel, Goodyear Tire & Rubber and Allegheny Ludlum. Conway became an activist in Local 6787 of the Steelworkers union soon after he hired in at the Burns Harbor Works of Bethlehem Steel in 1978.
