Tom Dunkel has written for the Washington Post, Sports Illustrated, New York Times Magazine, Smithsonian, Slate, and Wall Street Journal, among other publications, plus done commentaries for National Public Radio.
From 2003 to 2007 he was a staff feature writer at the Baltimore Sun; prior to that, a contributing editor at National Geographic Traveler and George, John Kennedy's now-defunct political magazine.
