LD THOMPSON - author, inspirational speaker, filmmaker and activist was born in Indiana and educated at the University of Alaska, Ball State University and Indiana University. His first two books THE MESSAGE: A Guide to Being Human and FIELDS OF PLENTY: A Guide to Your Inner Wisdom have both been translated into German. LD began his professional life as a producer on Imagine, a Seattle-based talk show. Then, at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, he conceived and produced Beyond The Line, an award winning hour-long weekly series exploring metaphysics, new science and environmental issues. In Los Angeles, LD served as a writer on Healthy Living with Jane Seymour which won a Telly Award. He was then served as the president of pop star Jewel's production company, producing the music videos for her singles,This Way, Break Me and Intuition. He was the executive producer on the DayBreak Song music video, the ClearWater PSA and the "Making Of" videos for Jewel. LD produced a tour for Soul City Café, Jewel’s emerging artist program and twenty-five videos from that tour. Additionally, he co-produced the first Soul City Café album and Soul City Café Music Quest, a concert featuring new musical artists. In 2005 he co-founded Trick Dog Films (trickdogfilms.com) a film and video production company which offers a full range of in-studio and location HD video production for sizzle reels, commercials, music videos, tributes, industrial films, event coverage and more. Notably, Trick Dog Films produced the award winning feature documentary ‘for my wife...’ He has also served as adjunct professor of Film and Video at College of the Desert. In 2014, LD co-founded The LGBT Sanctuary Palm Springs (sanctuarypalmsprings.org) a home for LGBT youth in foster care transitioning to adulthood. He and his spouse began their journey with foster care in 1994 working with foster boys in the SAY (Sexually Aggressive Youth) program in Washington State. The LGBT Sanctuary Palm Springs is a natural extension of their commitment to helping foster kids achieve their highest potential.
