Troy Henderson
Associate professor of mathematics at the University of Mobile

Troy Henderson is a university mathematics professor who sees mathematical problems and solutions in everyday life. His creative approach to mathematics education is aimed at turning a math-phobic generation into one that finds problem-solving fun. From mathematically modeling the cooking process of smoked barbecue to determining the best way to cut a quesadilla, Henderson demonstrates how mathematics knowledge is relevant to every aspect of our lives.

Henderson has developed several web-based applications including his Function Grapher which is a free utility that provides users a simple interface for creating publication-quality graphs, as well as his MetaPost Previewer which provides users a self-contained interface for developing MetaPost graphics. Henderson has taught at the United States Military Academy (West Point) and holds a Ph.D. degree in mathematics from Texas A&M University and a Master's degree in mathematics and Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Alabama. He is associate professor of mathematics at the University of Mobile, a Christian university in Mobile, Alabama. His interests range from mathematics and education issues to faith and family life.
