Val Chmerkovskiy
World Champion Latin and Ballroom Dancer, 'Dancing With the Stars'

Valentin "Val" Chmerkovskiy was born on March 24, 1986 in Odessa Ukraine. At only 7 years old Val began taking steps towards honing his talents as a world champion Latin and ballroom dancer. After each worldwide contest that he competed in, Val’s ascent to superstardom was becoming more and more apparent. Val officially arrived as a worldwide phenomenon when he debuted as a professional dancer on Season 13 of "Dancing with the Stars." Despite last season’s second round knockout with partner Elisabetta Canalis, Val is back for season 14. He is currently partnering with actress and television personality Sherri Shepherd, resuming his quest to win the Mirror Ball Trophy.

Val’s place in the limelight is nothing new. Throughout his illustrious 15 year career, Val has been crowned champion an incredible 14 times; including taking home titles for the Asian-Pacific Championships, the U.S. Open Blackpool, and the coveted prize of United States Amateur Latin Champion.

Val’s passion for dance has fueled his aspiration to join older brother Maksim in the family business of co-owning Dance with Me Dance Studios. Dance with Me Dance Studios is a burgeoning brand with studios emerging throughout the tri-state area and plans of expanding to the west coast in the near future.

Val’s creative outlets are not confined to the dance floor; he is also an incredible musician. When he is not teaching or competing in dance competitions, he takes pleasure in playing the violin. He put his violin talents on universal display when he performed on the "Dancing with the Stars’" season 11 result show. Additionally, Val has been hitting up the recording studios with some of the music industry’s top dogs to generate his debut hip hop and R&B album.
