Wimar Witoelar is a Jakarta-based Indonesian commentator and adjunct professor at Deakin University, Australia. He was spokesman for former Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid in 2000-01. Wahid led Indonesia’s largest Muslim organization, Nahdlatul Ulama, with up to 40 million members.
