"While my friends were getting sucked into "swiping" all day on their phones with Tinder, I eventually got fed up and designed a piece of software that automates everything on Tinder." - Justin Long
Tinder is a straight up numbers game and this genius learned how to beat it.
Vancouver-based developer Justin Long invented a Tinder bot that automates the already-expedited, mobile matchmaking process. Leveraging facial recognition algorithm Eigenfaces, Long's bot swipes both right and left on its creator's behalf. More than that, it comes equipped with an impressive messaging system that initiates conversations once a match is made. The system evaluates user responses, categorizing them as either positive or negative, and generates appropriate messages accordingly.
The results were beautiful. It landed him ten dates, but soon grew distracting, so Long disabled the bot.
However, before powering it down, he proved once and for all that when it comes to mobile dating, the most innovative among us prevail.
