As CNN thrashes about for a new CEO and a new mission that works why not give it back, at least for a while, to the man who damn near invented cable news.
Ted Turner deserves a shot at restoring the place to its best glory days, which just so happens to have been when he was in charge. The only reason he still isn't at the helm is because he got screwed by a bunch of NYC bean counters who eventually made a mess of things.
He might not even want the job, but I'm guessing he'd do it for now, until CNN's owners figure out what to do next. And you know Turner would certainly stir things up -- perhaps even reinvent the genre he started in the first place.
