Crane.tv recently indulged in a visit to Dri Dri Gelato in Chelsea. Inspired by a small gelato shop in his native Italy, founder Adriano de Petrillo has set up three of his own establishments across London.

His aim is for high quality artisanal Italian gelato to be served up tastefully and with sophistication.

In keeping with tradition, Petrillo uses gelato making equipment from the 1960s and 70s. The slow churning machines enhance both the taste and texture of gelato and their evocative forms contribute to the aesthetic of the shops.

Dri Dri Gelato is retro and playful, while at the same time contemporary and serious in its commitment to scouring the globe for only the best produce. English organic milk, Madagascan vanilla pods, Spanish handpicked mandarins and oranges, French cherries, Scicilian pistachios, Gran Cru cocoa beans sourced from São Tomé and the list goes on...

There are currently 20 flavours of gelato and sorbet to choose from - with seasonal treats including Biscotto (cookies and cream), Fragola (strawberry), Lampone (raspberry) and Crema Dri Dri.

A Harvard Business School graduate, Petrillo believes the key to starting your own business is to make sure you do what you love. He's definitely got the love for gelato and a delightful confidence in his new venture to boot.
