What is it like to live at the income threshold Walmart workers are asking for? After 11 years at Walmart, Patricia Locke of Seattle earns $13.10 per hour. She usually works 34 hours per week, but since her schedule can vary from week to week her checks are not predictable and she struggles to cover bills for herself and her 14-year-old daughter.
Still, Patricia cannot get another job to supplement her income because she must always be available for scheduling at Walmart or risk losing her full-time status.
After an interview, Policy Analyst and brief co-author Catherine Ruetschlin outlined how difficult it is for Patricia to make ends meet.
