A Bedroom Your Teen Will Actually Love

A Bedroom Your Teen Will Actually Love

Jamie Meares, founder of Furbish Studio and a master of mixing patterns, takes on her dream project: a 13-year-old client's bedroom.

When Raleigh, North Carolina-based designer Jamie Meares was hired to redo 13-year-old Annie's bedroom, she knew the real challenge would be balancing this Southern family's traditional style with the growing fashion-forward tastes of its teenage daughter. "I wanted to make it boho-Southern," Meares explains, "a look that mixed girly pom-poms with classic monograms and animal prints." The transformation took place over the course of a single day, while Annie was in school. In a few short hours, Meares ditched the preppy plaids of yesteryear and replaced them with youthful, spirited pieces fit for a modern young woman.

For tips and tricks on how to create the perfect bedroom for your teen, take note from Meares' transformation of Annie's bedroom.
