Eat The Press

Last week, Joe Scarborough reacted to being left out of Gallup's poll on TV personalities with an actually-pretty-hilarious impromptu video segment. This week, Scarborough and his producers smartly continue the trend with another video, this time riffing on Tucker Carlson's inclusion in "Dancing With the Stars." As we noted yesterday, the market for funny, riffy humor pieces is ripe for plucking, and MSNBC is wise to give Scarborough free rein in giving this new side of him a whirl, especially when the major cable nets have largely left humor alone (except, actually, for MSNBC, who has had success with the model in Keith Olbermann). It's a great opportunity for Scarborough, who, with this sudden new access to the YouTube-clip-passing generation, has an opportunity to expand his audience, not to mention his cred. Other than Comedy Central and Olbermann, it's something that is notably absent in the news (and, largely, in the newsies; who remembers Anderson Cooper's uncomfortable giggles on the Daily Show). Interesting to see where Scarborough and MSNBC go with this.
