Chicago Shakes Wig and Make-Up Designer, Melissa Veal, Turns Me Into a 17th Century Vixen

The School for Lies opened at Chicago Shakespeare Theater on December 4th. In honor of this trip back in time to the Sixteen Hundreds and the land of Moliere, I rolled out of bed early one morning without a stitch of make-up on and visited Jeff Award winning wig and make-up designer, Melissa Veal in her Chicago Shakes studio. There she told me of the behind the scenes work that it takes - - and how long! - - to bring an actor to full Shakespearian and/or period character. But who wants to talk about being from the Sixteen Hundreds when you can actually be from the Sixteen Hundreds?

In the Fear No ART video below, the very talented Melissa Veal takes me from slightly scruffy to 17th century vixen in an unbelievable transformation. And yes, it was as fun as it looks!
