5 Steps to Creating a Beautiful Life You Love: Part 3

This is the third part in the series, 5 Steps to Creating a Beautiful Life. Read Part 1 and Part 2 now.

Step 3: You achieve big dreams through little steps

"Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." - Theodore Roosevelt

Sometimes we know what our soul desperately desires (maybe a new career, partner or city), or we know what our dream beautiful life looks like - but it feels impossibly far away.

So we remain stuck. We stay in the same unfulfilling job, incompatible relationship, ill-fitting home, stressful financial situation, toxic friendship circle, unhealthy lifestyle and unsatisfying way of living, year after year.

The distance between your current life and the life of your dreams can feel overwhelming. Your goals are huge, your time is limited; how in this world are you going to achieve them?

The thing you need to remember is this: all dreams, even big ones, are achieved through a series of little steps.

Inspiring souls like Oprah Winfrey, Walt Disney and Marie Forleo didn't simply wake up one day to their dream life. They started as amateurs, with a dream, courage and determination. They took many small steps in the direction of their dreams, experimenting and learning and growing along the way.

You can do the same thing. The trick is to take your big dreams, and break them down into small, achievable steps.

The beautiful and amazing thing is this: once you start moving in the general direction of your dreams, the Universe will help you out. The right circumstances, people and opportunities will start showing up in your life. You will be provided for.

Exercise: Start today

"Little by little, one travels far." - JRR Tolkein

Think of one of your dreams - a new partner, career, city or travel perhaps.

Alternatively, picture the overall vision you have for your dream life. It's up to you.

What is one little step you can take today to get yourself closer to achieving that dream or life vision?

It could be to:

  • send an email to a potential new mentor
  • write a blog post or book chapter
  • learn a single skill, like how to record a video
  • strike up a conversation with someone new
  • brainstorm a new idea
  • get a price quote
  • conduct 1 hour of research
  • get your hands dirty
  • attend your first yoga or dance class
  • enroll in a workshop or online course
  • create a vision board for your dream life
  • ask a friend for advice
  • commit to a deadline

Write it down (it makes it more real) and commit to completing it.
