9 Times Pink Reminded Us To Love Our Bodies More

Get the (body love) party started.

When singer and badass performer Pink became a CoverGirl in 2012, she was vocal about representing women those who felt like outcasts.

"I want girls who feel like me to feel good about themselves," she told Access Hollywood.

Pink, who turned 36 on September 8, has long been outspoken about how people criticize her body -- and how little she cares about that. She firmly believes that every woman should define herself, and has some serious body image wisdom to share.

Here are nine times Pink preached body love loud and clear:

When she focused on what her body can do, not what it looks like.

“I’m a person who could always lose a couple here and there, but I would rather be strong than bony.” Pink told Who magazine in 2014. “Instead of thinking, ‘Am I skinny?’ I grew up thinking, ‘Am I fast enough? How can I use my body?'”

"I think people have gotten it wrong. They think their opinion matters and holds weight and I don't know where or why they're giving themselves so much credit you know?" Pink told told Entertainment Tonight in response to weight-shaming trolls. "So I thought it was important for me to remind them that I don't care. My life is full, I like food a lot and I really like to cook, I like to live, I find joy in that and we're doing alright in the Hart household."

When she responded to body critics on Twitter.

In April 2015, Pink hit back at rude commenters who criticized her body and outfit at a cancer benefit.

"Sexy doesn't have to come with the price tag of being dumb," she told MTV in 2007.

When she shared what makes her feel beautiful.

"Hanging upside down and being physical makes me feel beautiful," Pink told Redbook in 2013. "Feeling beautiful to me is when I feel good in my leather pants and my husband grabs my ass. Or when I'm sitting on a mat and my daughter runs to me with complete joy. Beautiful has never been my goal. Joy is my goal -- to feel healthy and strong and powerful and useful and engaged and intelligent and in love. It's about joy. And there's such joy now."

When she dismissed claims that her body is "masculine."
YouTube

"I get a lot of flak for [my body]," she told Women's Health in 2009. "That's where the masculine thing comes in, people saying it's not normal for a girl to have [abs]. But I'm OK with it. I think it's because I was a gymnast for eight years, from ages 4 to 12. My body was made before my bones were fully grown. Gymnasts are short, stocky, muscular powerhouses."

When she took negative comments with a grain of salt.
Billboard

In an August 2012 interview with Billboard, Pink talked about finding humor in mean comments about her appearance.

“I always read the responses from the fans,” she said. “It was 99 percent positive, but I’ll always have that 1 percent that’s negative. And my favorite comment was, ‘Too bad they can’t Photoshop the bitch off your face.’ That’s actually pretty good.”

“I’m fine knowing I’m going to be 80 with all these tattoos," she told Dean Piper in 2012. "They’re all really meaningful."

When Pink was named Billboard Woman of the Year in 2013, she spoke out about how her views on beauty and self-worth might help others. “I’m grateful if I’ve kept one girl from feeling different or ugly or unempowered,” she said during her acceptance speech.
