The Perfect Abs Workout Playlist

The Perfect Abs Workout Playlist

By Chris Lawhorn for Shape.com

Most workout playlists are designed to push you through routines that involve a lot of quick, repetitive movements -- running, jumping rope, etc. This usually means they're made up of songs with 120 beats per minute (BPM) or more. But working on your core calls for slower songs to match your pace.

Rather than trying to create an all-purpose abs workout playlist, the songs below represent a succession of BPMs: 70, 75, 80... up to 115 BPM. Put them to the test during your next sculpting session to find out which tempo perfectly matches your routine. Once you've determined your ideal BPM, you can flesh out your playlist with more songs of the same speed to build the perfect soundtrack for carving your core.

OneRepublic -- Feel Again: 70 BPM
Florence and the Machine -- Dog Days Are Over: 75 BPM
The Lumineers -- Ho Hey: 80 BPM
Janelle Monae & Big Boi -- Tightrope: 85 BPM
Katy Perry -- Roar: 90 BPM
Eminem -- Berzerk: 95 BPM
P!nk -- Glitter in the Air: 100 BPM
M83 -- Midnight City: 105 BPM
Maroon 5 & Wiz Khalifa -- Payphone: 110 BPM
Haim -- The Wire: 115 BPM
