Adam Scott’s kids are not easily swayed.
Appearing on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” the actor said he’s been trying for a long time to persuade his two children to watch his hit show, “Parks and Recreation,” to no avail.
Scott and his wife Naomi have an 8-year-old daughter named Frankie and a 10-year-old son named Graham. According to their dad, the kids love comedy shows like “The Good Place” and “Superstore.”
“I’m kind of always like, ‘Hey guys, you know what would fit perfectly into that comedy trifecta, is a little show called ‘Parks and Rec.,’” he said, adding that their response is usually along the lines of, “Nah, not really, it doesn’t feel right, right now. Let’s watch this episode of ‘Good Place’ again instead.”
Another thing that doesn’t feel right to them? The current state of U.S. politics.
Scott shared a photo of Frankie at the Women’s March on Los Angeles. She carried a rather ... pointed sign.
“She’s not having any of it,” Scott said.
Meyers talked to the actor about his kids’ civic engagement and interest in politics. “You made the point that it’s actually because Trump uses the vocabulary and emotions of a child often, it’s kind of easy to talk to your children about him,” the host said.
“My kids, we didn’t make them go to this march,” Scott explained. “They asked if they could go because I think it’s important to realize that the things that Donald Trump is doing and saying and the policies he’s proposing or the executive orders he’s signing are so mean and unwise and ridiculous on an elementary level, that my 8- and 10-year-olds ― independently ― can surmise and just go, ‘No, no, I want to register my complaint with the U.S. government.’”
We have to imagine Ben Wyatt would be proud.
