According to KTLA, police think that Munguia's disappearance may be linked to a man whom she met on the dating app Tinder. Tinder matches users who are located near each other using GPS and shares limited information, such as photos of the user's choosing.
Friends told KABC that Munguia is a smart girl who is focused on her studies, and that her disappearance is out of character.
"She's usually here most of the time, talking to us, she's never been one to leave and never come back and not tell anyone. That's what worries us the most," roommate Estrella Perez told the station.
Munguia is described as a Hispanic female, with brown hair and brown eyes, standing 4 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 105 pounds.
She was last seen wearing an orange tank top, black pants and open-toed shoes.
Those with information are asked to contact police at 323-343-3700.
