Pulp is finishing off their reunion year with a new song: The band released "After You," a fun collaboration with James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem, on Christmas Day.
A demo of the track had already been floating around. Pitchfork reports that the beginnings of the song were actually recorded "over a decade ago," and that this version was first recorded in November, then finished off on the Coachella cruise.
The band gave attendees of a show in Sheffield greeting cards with an access code. Fans were directed to a website where they could enter said codes at midnight on Christmas Eve.
"After You" is Pulp's first recording in over 10 years. The band's last album of original material, "We Love Live," was released in 2001.
But don't expect an album of all-new Pulp material to appear anytime soon. Javis Cocker told Q Magazine (via Consequence of Sound) that he doesn't seen the band doing much next year. No tour dates are currently planned.
Murphy has kept relatively busy since breaking up LCD Soundsystem in 2011, DJ'ing a string of high-profile gigs and jumping in the studio with a plethora of his talented friends, from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs to Arcade Fire.
