Bill Paxton is headed to "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."
Paxton has been a familiar face on TV over the last few years playing Randall McCoy in the hit miniseries "Hatfields & McCoys" and Bill on HBO's "Big Love" (though he'll always be twister chaser Bill Harding in our hearts). Now he will continue his television run with the ABC secret spy series.
TV Guide reports that Paxton will play Agent John Garrett, who "will work alongside agents Ward (Brett Dalton) and May (Ming-Na Wen)" and is the "type [of agent] who wants to stay out in the field no matter how high-level he gets."
According to Bleeding Cool, in the comics "John Garrett is a former SHIELD agent who was made into a cyborg to save his life … Despite a history of repeated criminal offenses which included assault, battery, grand larceny, and four counts of statutory rape. John ended up becoming an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., with his past records clandestinely expunged."
We're guessing that "S.H.I.E.L.D." will keep the dramatic and violent cyborg version of Garrett's character for the high-octane series.
No word yet on when Paxton will make his first appearance, but he will be on for at least four episodes this season.
"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
