Flight attendants may be the friendliest frequent fliers in the atmosphere -- but it's time for some to kiss a glamorous look goodbye. Turkish Airlines announced on Friday that they will ban their crew from wearing red lipstick and nail polish while in-air, Reuters reports.

"As a consequence of our current cabin uniforms not including red, dark pink, et cetera, the use of lipstick and nail polish in these colors by our cabin crew impairs visual integrity," the aircraft carrier said in a statement. As an alternative, the airline prefers "simple make-up, immaculate and in pastel colours," the Telegraph reports. Critics have spoken out on social media against the restrictions, which may mark a cultural shift in Turkey.

According to Fox News, this decree reflects a move away from secular styles in Turkey and an attempt to bolster the country's Islamic values.

Distraction or not, the ban certainly inhibits flight attendants' ability to conceal dark spots and to try out all the latest nail art trends. What's your take on this aggressive grooming policy?
