Amanda Bynes' bizarre behavior might have some people worried, but the former Nickelodeon star is allegedly "blissfully unaware" anything is wrong.
Days after Bynes tweeted a photo of a makeover that made her unrecognizable -- complete with false eyelashes, a cheek piercing, acrylic nails and a curly synthetic wig -- a source close to the 26-year-old claims the actress doesn't think anything is wrong.
“Amanda has absolutely no idea about the reputation she’s getting for all of her weird behavior,” a supposed friend of Bynes told RadarOnline.com. “In fact, when she got her DUI and those hit-and-run allegations all she talked about was the publicity she was finally getting!”
“Amanda’s just totally out of it lately, and any efforts by friends or family to help get her back on track go in one ear and out the other,” the source continued. “Amanda will continue on this path because she doesn’t think anything is wrong."
Bynes' odd behavior began in 2010 when she announced she was retiring. Since then, she has had various run-ins with the law, stripped at a gym, was allegedly evicted from her New York City apartment for smoking weed, got a cheek piercing, showed her boobs on Instagram and set a goal to whittle down to 100 pounds.
"The frustrating thing that we’re seeing now is the maddening near-certainty that we’re witnessing a bright young girl spin out of control and lose herself to odd delusions and an increasingly narrow sense of reality," writes the Daily Beast's Kevin Fallon. "It’s not just the clownish makeover. She’s had a DUI, multiple hit-and-runs, her car impounded, and was photographed driving and smoking weed. Her assessment of the situation: 'I’m doing amazing.'"
The Huffington Post reached out to a former rep for the actress, but it is unlikely the request for comment will be returned since Bynes broke off contact with her team back in September.
