'An Unforgettable Evening' Raises $1.5 Million for EIF's Women's Cancer Research Fund

Last night at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, the EIF's Women's Cancer Research Fund Honorary Chairs Rita Wilson, Kate Capshaw and Steven Spielberg along with EIF's Women's Cancer Research Fund co-founders Kelly Chapman Meyer, Anne Douglas, Quinn Ezralow, Marion Laurie and Jaime Tisch, celebrated the 14th Annual "An Unforgettable Evening" benefiting the Entertainment Industry Foundation's Women's Cancer Research Fund.

The event, which raised $1.5 million continues to raise support for innovative cancer research, such as the Breast Cancer Biomarker Discovery Project and recognize remarkable individuals for their commitment to the cause. The Breast Cancer Biomarker Discovery Project is working to identify and verify biomarkers that will lead to the development of a blood test for the detection of breast cancer at its earliest and most curable stages.

Hilarious host Conan O'Brien said, "Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson asked me to host this event and I thought wow, cancer, the jokes just write themselves." Honorees Martin Short (who accepted the Courage Award on behalf of his wife Nancy, who tragically passed away from ovarian cancer in August) and Annette Bening mixed with a crowd that included Rosanna Arquette, Warren Beatty, Billy Crystal, Barbara Davis, Kirk Douglas, Leona Lewis, Tobey Maguire and Amber Valletta.

After a dinner that included smoked salmon, braised short ribs and chocolate covered strawberries, Cee Lo Green got everyone (including Beatty) on their feet for an exciting three song set including his hit song "Forget You." The Grammy-nominated singer saved the day when Rihanna had to unexpectedly cancel due to illness. Guests capped off the night with gift bags that included a Saks Fifth Avenue gift card and tasty cupcakes from Sprinkles.
