Arlington Rapper Remy Puts Out New Video About Light Bulbs

Remy, the rapper best known for his hilarious video about Arlington's many Starbucks, has a new video out. It's about light bulbs.

More to the point, it's about the federal government's regulation of incandescent light bulbs -- the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007, a law that effectively bans incandescent bulbs starting in January. Conservatives and libertarians have come out strongly against the law.

The video hits some of the standard anti-bulb ban talking points -- a fear of mercury in fluorescent bulbs; concern for the future of the Easy Bake Oven.

"Missing You" is also charming and hilarious and even if Media Matters reassures us that there is no incandescent light bulb ban -- that the very notion of the ban is a vast right wing conspiracy -- it's got us stockpiling.

And now, a fitting libertarian light bulb joke, borrowed from this compendium of light bulb jokes:

Q: How many libertarians does it take to change a light bulb?

A: Libertarians never change light bulbs, because someone might enter the room who wants to sit in the dark.

How many Keynesians does it takes to change a light bulb?

All. Because then you will generate employment, more consumption, and shift aggregate demand to the right.
