One more week before the big guns roll out. Starting September 7th, we'll be in the thick of the Fall gallery season with hundreds of major shows, openings, and benefits each week. Before the artworld hits its frantic peak, why not delve a bit further afield? You'll have your fill of the Chelsea galleries soon enough - this week there's plenty of low-key fun to be had gallery-hopping and partying around Brooklyn. Head for the street art in Protest vs. Propaganda at Sacred Gallery and Paradise Lost at Brooklynite. Or hit the miniature '80s streetscapes in Trainset Ghetto at Open Source Gallery. As the gallery openings start coming thick and fast, know that you'll have at least one line of escape from Chelsea this month. This weekend marks the beginning of the 4heads Governors Island Art Fair, every Saturday and Sunday from September 4th-26th. It's also the big weekend to party in Brooklyn, with Secret Project Robot's Monster Island Open House and Block Party and the epic, all-night Forbidden City Warehouse Party. And before the Summer shows are gone, check out our not-to-miss hit list.
