Your passport actually expires six months before the expiration date.

January 23, 2007 was the date you were required to have a passport to fly back into the USA from Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Why is this important? A bazillion people were issued passports around that time and they are all expiring around now. There WILL be a rush on passport centers across the country. Please take a look at your passport and go ahead and start the renewal process THIS WEEK! Many countries require you to have at least six months validity and you will be denied boarding for that dream vacation or important business trip if your trip falls within that six month period.

Again, let me repeat. Your passport actually expires six months before the expiration date. If it hits that six month date while you are out of the country (and no one notices before you leave the country), you will be denied access back into the USA. Surprise.

Thanks to cruise travel agent/expert/guru Chuck Flagg for this timely reminder and tip idea!
