The Bangs Styling Trick That'll Give You Supermodel Cheekbones

Want Supermodel Cheekbones? Try This Bangs Trick

Bangs always seem like a great idea... until we actually have them.

One of the most common frustrations with fringe is that as it grows out, it starts to appear mismatched with the rest of your hair. But according to Rodney Cutler, celebrity stylist and Cutler/Redken salon owner, the right cut and style can make "awkward" growing-out phase less, well, awkward.

"Having layers that hit the tops of the cheekbones creates a point of interest and accentuates the cheekbones and eyes," Cutler told HuffPost Style.

Victoria's Secret Angel Behati Prinsloo's new bangs are a perfect example of this face-framing layered cut, according to Cutler (see also on Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss and Elle Macpherson). Plus, they aren't too long to wear straight or too short to sweep to the side.

If you're still having difficulty styling your bangs, Cutler offers two need-to-know tips below that will come handy in between salon visits.

Oils can work wonders for frizzy bangs.

"Redken’s Diamond Oil is a perfect non-greasy product that smooths hair without weighing it down," said Cutler.

The push top dropper makes it easy to apply just enough serum to your hair before blow drying or styling. To avoid ending up with a super shiny forehead, concentrate on the midshaft and ends of your bangs.

To fuss less with your bangs throughout the day, get them wet first.

"While hair is damp, comb hair with a small tooth comb into the desired look or shape," Cutler explained. "Then wrap dry the bangs to the shape of the head from side to side to help control cowlicks and imperfections."
