Just in case you haven't cried enough while watching OWN's release of "Bridegroom," Coleen McMahon, a friend of the late Tom Bridegroom, released a heartbreaking music video this week to accompany the song "Beautiful Boy" written for the film.
If you're unfamiliar, "Bridegroom" chronicles the life and experiences of Shane Bitney Crone following the death of his partner of six years, Tom Bridegroom. The couple shared a mortgage, a business and a pet, but because the two were never able to legally get married, Bridgegroom's homophobic family was able to successfully bar Crone from attending the funeral of his dead partner.
McMahon notes on the video's description,
A little over two years ago, I lost one of my best friends in a tragic and sudden accident. His name was Tom Bridegroom. It was one of the most heartbreaking times in my life to this day. I still cannot believe he is gone. I am dedicating this song I wrote, entitled "Beautiful Boy," to Tom and all of those who have lost someone close to them. I am so humbled and honored that Tom's partner of six years and one of my best friends, Shane Bitney Crone, put my song "Beautiful Boy" in his award-winning documentary "Bridegroom."
