Bedbug Scare Closes Part Of Kings County Hospital

Kings County Hospital officials feared they had a bedbug outbreak on their hands, so they closed down the hospital's triage room.

Hospital workers were concerned that a patient with bedbugs had been admitted.
Upon further investigation, there were no bedbugs found, and the room was reopened.

The scare comes shortly after two bedbug infestations forced the closure of the Hollister Epic store in SoHo and the Abercrombie & Fitch at the South Street Seaport. Both locations have since reopened.

A spokesperson for the Department of Health said bedbug outbreaks in stores rarely result in people being bit.

"Bedbugs bite people when they are still, and that usually occurs in the home," the spokesperson said.
