Austria's "Amour" was up against Norway's "Kon-Tiki," Chile's "No," Denmark's "A Royal Affair," and Canada's "War Witch" for the award.

It was a big night for "Amour" as the film was up for five Oscars, including Best Picture. The film, which focuses on an aging couple, was also nominated for Best Director and Best Writing - Original Screenplay for Michael Haneke, and Best Actress for Emmanuelle Riva.

Last year, Iran won its first Oscar when "A Separation" took the award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 84th annual Academy Awards. The movie beat out Belgium's "Bullhead," Israel's "Footnote," Poland's "In Darkness," and Canada's "Monsieur Lazhar."

The 85th annual Academy Awards were hosted by Seth MacFarlane at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. The awards show included performances by Adele and Barbra Streisand and was held on Feb. 24.
