Beverly Bond Is Launching Black Girls Rock! Africa

Because black girls EVERYWHERE, rock!

Beverly Bond made history when she founded Black Girls Rock! in 2006 with the intention of empowering and mentoring black women and girls across the United States. Now, she's spreading that initiative across the Atlantic and into Africa.

Bond made the announcement during a BET Experience Africa event in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Saturday.

“The purpose of the Black Girls Rock! Africa platform is to recognize, support, and celebrate the diversity and dynamism of black women in Africa and the African Diaspora,” Bond said during the event. “Black Girls Rock! Africa will tap into our growing international market by illuminating the vibrant cultures and valiant narratives of our African sisters who are sheroes and trailblazers.”

According to a press release, Black Girls Rock! Africa will continue to "elevate black women and girls in Africa and beyond." Bond is also working with organizations to initiate outreach programs throughout the continent and is developing a Pan-African Black Girls Rock! Awards show for the organization's 10-year anniversary in 2016.

Now, more even more black girls will realize just how much they rock!
