Biden Robocall Supports Dem Candidate In NY House Race

Upstate New York residents might be getting a call today from Vice President Joe Biden, who has recorded an audio message endorsing Democratic congressional candidate Scott Murphy.

In the call, which was rolled out out on the eve of Tuesday's election, Biden praises Murphy's business background and describes him as a job creator. During the campaign, Republican Jim Tedisco tarred Murphy for his business bonafides, casting him as an out-of-touch Wall Street type. Tedisco jabbed Murphy in a debate last week by saying "I'm not a millionaire" -- even though he probably is.

The race is a special election to fill the seat vacated by Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY). Polls suggest it's a real toss-up, with Tedisco's once-commanding lead in the GOP-leaning district dwindling in recent weeks.

Here's the robocall text:

This is Vice President Joe Biden. I'm supporting Scott Murphy for Congress and so is President Obama. Scott's a business man who helped create over 1,000 jobs. We have a lot of work to do and Scott will help get it done. So I hope you'll vote Tuesday, and I hope you'll join President Obama and me, Joe Biden, in supporting Scott Murphy. He's a business man who knows how to create jobs for upstate New York.
