Bill Daley To Give U Of I Commencement Speech

White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley will return to Illinois next month, where he will deliver a commencement speech at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana campus.

Daley will speak at the 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. campuswide commencement ceremonies on May 15, according to the university.
The speeches come one day before Daley's brother, Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, leaves office. Mayor-elect (and Bill Daley's predecessor) Rahm Emanuel will be sworn in on May 16.

Before replacing Emanuel as White House Chief of Staff, Bill Daley served as JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s vice chair and head of corporate responsibility. He was also president of SBC Communications from 2001 to 2004.

Before joining SBC, Bill Daley helped President Bill Clinton pass the North American Free Trade Agreement, served as Clinton's commerce secretary and ran Al Gore's 2000 presidential campaign.
