Bill Maher Blasted Over Ivanka Trump Joke

Bill Maher is taking some heat for an incest joke he made about President Donald Trump and his daughter Ivanka.

“What do you make of Ivanka and her efforts to sort of humanize her father? ... A lot of us thought, Ivanka is gonna be our saving grace,” he said on Friday’s episode of his HBO show “Real Time” during an interview with New York Magazine’s Gabriel Sherman. “When he’s about to nuke Finland or something, she’s gonna walk into the bedroom and — ‘Daddy, Daddy. Don’t do it, Daddy,’” making a crude gesture with his hand.

“Is that how you see Ivanka?” Maher asked Sherman, who replied with a “no.”

However, others noted that the joke is nothing new.

Jokes about the first family have not been going over well recently. Fox News host Jesse Watters apparently got in some trouble after seemingly making a sex joke about Ivanka while on air last month talking about respecting women. He then went on vacation.

Last week, Stephen Colbert was criticized for making a homophobic joke about the POTUS and Vladimir Putin. The hashtag #FireColbert began trending on Twitter, to which he replied: “I have jokes, he has the launch codes, so it’s a fair fight.”
