In its ten-year history, the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, TN has quickly risen to become one of the premier festivals in the country for cutting edge music and comedy. Their 2011 comedy lineup was released this week and it features an eclectic mix of alternative comics and storytellers, highlighted by acclaimed comedian Lewis Black and the 420 Comedy Blaze hosted by stoner-comedy hero Cheech Marin.
Of course, given recent comedy festival lineup controversies, we found ourselves immediately scanning the list counting up the number of female comedians. Out of the 15 acts listed, two are women. We'd like to see more, but at least the ladies' odds seem to be improving...if very, very slowly. And as always, the lineup is subject to change, so who knows who else might pop up. May we suggest a few of our 53 Favorite Female Comedians.
