A Fort Lauderdale homeowners association president trying to quiet a noise disturbance in his community was sucker-punched from behind then brutally beaten, the whole incident caught on a security camera.

Fort Lauderdale police say Villas of Lakeview resident Arthur Burns was attacked in the parking lot of the complex about 1:30 a.m. November 4. On the tape, Burns can be seen approaching several people, walking his bicycle and speaking into his cell phone. Footage shows his assailant sneaking up behind Burns as he talks, then punching him in the back of the head.

After the blow sends Burns to the pavement, the suspect is seen rifling through his pockets, punching him several more times and finally kicking him in the head as he continues to attempt to get up.

I never saw it coming,” he told CBS Miami. “I’d have feel better if he’d have looked me in the face and busted me in the front and gave me a fighting chance."

Burns, who escaped major injury, declined to be transported to hospital. Police say the assailant made off with Burns' iPhone, and are also seeking an accomplice who allegedly stood by and watched the attack.
