Three people were arrested in connection with an armed robbery of a jewelry store in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood.

According to police, the group of three -- Felice Desilvia, 29; Palo Brown, 30 and Paris Starwalt, 23 -- tied up and robbed an employee of Bryn Mawr Jewelry Company, 1125 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., early Monday afternoon, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

According to CBS Chicago, the three pretended they were customers before they pointed a gun at a shop clerk, tied the employee up and proceeded to steal jewelry from the shop's cases in addition to a cash box.

Police responded to a call of a well-being check at the shop and arrived on the scene while the heist was still in progress, CBS reports.

The suspects fled the scene out a back door upon cops' arrival, according to NBC Chicago.

The Chicago Tribune reports that two of the three robbery suspects attempted to steal the car of an area woman in her 60s to use as their getaway vehicle in the 5500 block of North Wayne Avenue. Neighbors, however, heard the woman screaming upon being punched and were able to prevent her from being forced into the car's trunk.

The three were apprehended within a mile of the jewelry shop and were due in court later Wednesday.
